Malayasia shooting is nearing its completion and superstar returned to native last week. Two days before he went to US for the Enthiran 2 photo shoot and make up test. Shankar is directing the film and Lyca Entertainment is producing it. It is said that the movie will be in high budget of minimum 250 crores. If it is true then this movie will be top among all richest movie in Indian movie history. Superstar is currently at USA and photo shoot and makeup test will be held this week. Meanwhile, the report says Kabali next schedule will be conducted at Goa and it may probably starts in next week. Rajinikanth will join them after finishing the Enthiran 2 photo shoot at USA. Kabali is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, written and directed by Pa. Ranjith. The team had currently completed its 50% of its shoot. Rest will be completed on January end. Makers planned to release the movie on next year summer. Two new posters of superstar are expected to be released on his birthday 12 December. On 18 August 2015, director Pa Ranjith announced on his Twitter page that principal photography would begin the following week, which was confirmed on 22 August when Behindwoods covered a photo shoot which took place on 21 August at AVM Studios in Chennai.
First schedule of the filming started on Vinayagar Chaturthi on 17 September 2015 at the Russian Centre of Science and Cultural in Chennai.
Taking a break from Kabali shoot, Rajinikanth started shooting for 2.0 directed by Shankar. He is expected to join the sets of Kabali again in January 2016 and will be shooting for another 30 days for the film. The shooting of Kabali is expected to be wrapped up in February 2016
On 17 August 2015, Ranjith announced the title of the film to be Kabali and that Rajinikanth would play the role of Kabaliswaran.The makers of the film had earlier considered using the title Kaali, which was the title of Rajinikanth's 1980 film. As that film did not do well in the Tamil Nadu box office at the time, the makers passed on using it for the new film. Another title, Kannabhiran, was also considered but it was later found that the title's rights were already held by director Ameer Sultan for a future film.
In June 2015, director Pa. Ranjith announced his third directorial venture, which would follow his previous two films Attakathi and Madras , with Rajinikanth via Twitter. Working with Ranjith would make Kabali Rajinikanth's first film with a novel director for the first time since his collaboration with S. Shankar in Sivaji . In an interview with IndiaGlitz, producer S. Thanu revealed that Rajinikanth had personally asked him to produce the Ranjith-directed film. The producer's commercially successful Bairavi was Rajinikanth's first lead role film and the two had not collaborated since.It was speculated that Rajinikanth's role would be based on a real-life mob boss from Chennai.
